Monsanto, along with the American Agri-Women (AAW), has chosen the 2015 class of regional winners for National Farm Mom of the Year, according to Monsanto news release.
Each regional winner received a $5,000 award. Their biographical information and original nomination is currently posted online at AmericasFarmers.com.
Representing the southwest region is Shelley Heinrich of Lubbock.
Heinrich dedicated her nonexistent “free time” to the children and the farm. She served on the school board, softball league boards, FFA booster clubs and coached softball teams. Heinrich makes costumes for school plays, brings food to the farmers and has run to pick up parts so the boys could continue plowing, planting and harvesting.
America has until May 5 to vote online by voting for their favorite farm mom based on the judging criteria provided in the contest rules. The woman who receives the most votes will be named the National Farm Mom of the Year. As a bonus, the winner will receive an additional $5,000 prize.
