American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has unveiled a new grassroots biotech toolkit at www.fb.org/biotech. Biotechnology has proven to be an important tool for better sustainability and food security. It helps farmers grow more food while improving the environment.

The free online resource includes an overview of biotechnology, plus one-pagers on benefits to consumers, the environment, farmers, the U.S. economy and U.S. food and national security policy.

The toolkit also explains that regulatory burdens are slowing research and innovation of new biotech traits, which are starting to reduce U.S. farmers’ international competitive advantage.

Farmers can help set the record straight and the toolkit provides talking points for them to meet with community leaders, government officials or use social media, especially to correct misinformation about the impact of biotech crops, or GMOs, on agriculture. Farmers can weigh in against the misconceptions of biotech crops.
