The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved $13,806,955 in financial assistance for water and wastewater improvements and a new wastewater treatment plant, according to a TWDB news release.

TWDB’s funding will finance six projects. Two will provide additional water supplies in response to the ongoing drought, while three will benefit rural communities.

The approved TWDB projects are as follows:

• $500,000 to the Baylor Water Supply Corporation (Baylor, Knox, Archer, Throckmorton and Young counties) for a water supply project

• $5,000,000 to the Central Texas Water Supply Corporation (Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Falls, Lampasas, Milam and Williamson counties) for a water supply project

• $179,000 to the City of Malone (Hill County) for water meter replacements

• $4,617,955 to the City of San Marcos (Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Comal counties) for wastewater system improvements

• $2,460,000 to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50 (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements and a new wastewater treatment plant

• $1,050,000 to the City of Reklaw (Cherokee and Rusk counties) for water system improvements
