The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is proposing new forest products to be included in the BioPreferred program.

The proposed action will promote biobased products that apply an innovative approach to growing, harvesting, sourcing, procuring, processing, manufacturing or application of biobased products.

USDA’s BioPreferred program works to increase the purchase and use of designated biobased products, resulting in expanding bioeconomy, additional consumer choices and new jobs, according to a USDA news release.

USDA will accept public comments on the BioPreferred proposed rule until Dec. 26, 2014. To read or comment on the proposed rule, click here.
