The fifth annual Nominate Your Fire Department Contest is underway and farmers and ranchers are encouraged to submit their local fire department or emergency rescue team to win a grain bin rescue tube and training.
The contest, created by Nationwide, awards fire departments across the country with grain bin rescue tubes and hands-on training to help save lives. The contest runs through April 30.
“Nationwide created this program and joined forces with partners across the country to make it happen for a single purpose—to save lives,” Brad Liggett, president of Nationwide Agribusiness, said. “We understand the importance of the work that farmers are doing every day, and we will continue to make the rescue tubes and training available as long as these dangers exist.”
Farmers and ranchers can nominate their departments in one of three ways:
1. Online
2. Email
3. Mail: NECAS, Grain Bin Safety Ag Contest, 8342 NICC Dr., Peosta, IA 52068
A brief summary of how the fire department or emergency rescue team, as well as the rural community they protect, would benefit from the training is required. Nominators must provide their name, occupation, phone number, mailing address and email address. The name, address and phone number of the fire department or emergency rescue team being nominated must also be included in the submission.
Nationwide has provided rescue tubes and training to 48 fire departments across 18 states since 2014.
“Grain bin accidents can tragically impact individuals, families and entire communities,” Liggett said. “Accident prevention means everyone working together.”
