Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) District 10 administrative staff gathered in Buda for a secretary appreciation luncheon—with a twist. As attendees dined on barbecue in the front yard, miniature horses grazed nearby.

The event was held at the Little America Miniature Horse Farm, which is owned by Hays County Farm Bureau members Tony and Carol Greaves. The Greaves also provided a tour of the farm.

A couple of years ago, TFB District 10 State Director Ronnie Muennink asked his wife for ideas for the administrative support staff appreciation event held each year, and they decided to begin hosting the event in an outdoors setting.

“Every year, we try to look for something new to get the secretaries out of their offices for the day,” Muennink said.

Muennink noted the scenic setting of Little America Miniature Horse Farm was a perfect venue to show his appreciation for the hardworking county Farm Bureau (CFB) administrative staff of District 10.

After the farm tour, attendees had a chance to learn more about more about the miniature horses.

“It’s great camaraderie to just be able to get together and share ideas and learn from each other. It’s just been a great experience,” Bexar CFB Office Supervisor Cindy Vasbinder said.

In addition to fellowship, attendees discussed successes of two new tools available, the myTFB membership portal and online membership enrollment process.

“The primary purpose of this function is to express our thanks for the job they do for Texas Farm Bureau,” Joann Wilhite, associate director of Membership said. “We also had the opportunity to talk about these new ways to assist our members while we were all together.”

The event was topped off by the presentation of Secretary Membership Recognition Awards for attaining county membership goals.

“It’s important to recognize our secretaries, because they’re such a vital part of our counties,” Muennink said. “They spend every day taking care of business, keeping our counties going. They need some acknowledgement that their job is very much appreciated.”
