County Farm Bureaus (CFB) are once again eligible for a matching grant to reimburse activities that promote agricultural literacy and awareness.

Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) has opened applications to CFBs for the Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) Matching Grant Program.

CFBs can apply for partial reimbursement of up to $250 for activities that promote agricultural literacy and education.

“County Farm Bureau and volunteer involvement is important,” Dakota Fleming, TFB associate director of Urban and Educational Outreach, said. “TFB will continue to support these activities that encourage agricultural education.”

Selected counties can receive a 50 percent reimbursement, not exceeding $250, for expenses on AITC programs and activities held between Aug. 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019.

To be reimbursed, counties must submit a completed application documenting how the money was used, the cost of the activity with receipts attached, schools involved, number of students and/or teachers who participated and a description of the activity.

“It is important for the next generation to be agriculturally literate, and it takes a team of dedicated individuals to make sure that happens,” Fleming said. “We appreciate the CFB volunteers for their efforts in ensuring students and teachers are exposed to agriculture.”

The deadline to apply is Sept. 13. Applications will be reviewed and funds distributed beginning Oct. 1.
