Prairie View A&M (PVAMU) will hold its Agricultural Field Day April 28 and 29 in Prairie View from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carden-Waller Cooperative Extension Building and University Demonstration Farm.

The Agricultural Field Day is an annual event that originated as Goat Field Day and later combined activities with another major event and together became known as Agricultural Field Day. The program focuses on PVAMUā€™s flagship International Goat Research Center, horticulture and other types of farming.

The Agricultural Field Day is a family-friendly celebration of the programs and innovative research in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences.

The event will feature farm activities and numerous informative workshops intended for local farmers and ranchers.

Workshop topics include high value vegetable production on limited acreage, small ruminants, the Food Safety Modernization Act, managing ruminant parasites, ask a vet and many others.

A panel of experienced farmers and ranchers will also explain aspects of their operations and the steps it took for them to be successful.

The Agricultural Field Day workshops will be held in the Carden-Waller Cooperative Extension building and the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Farm.

PVAMU, in conjunction with its Community and Economic Development unit in the Cooperative Extension Program, will also host its annual Housing Fair on Saturday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants will receive information on the various entities and resources available for their real estate needs and individuals will be identified for 502 and 504 USDA loans.
